During my time as the editor for the America’s National Parks Podcast, I got the chance to compose, score, and add sound design to their amazing narrative episodes. I felt like I got the chance to play a part in telling the history of this country.
Here’s the main theme of the podcast for a bit of time. My main inspiration for this orchestral piece were Aaron Copland and John Williams. Given the vastness of many of the national treasures of the United States, I wanted to convey that very same openness featuring a gliding oboe and a bold solo piano. With Old Country, the images I hope you get are of the trees of Yosemite bathed by golden rays of light.
This episode was all about being more aware of your physical sensations in Death Valley. Following the narration, I painted a desert landscape by helping listeners feel the wind and sand blowing through them. I opted for less music in order to create a meditative piece.
Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens was an interesting episode to edit. The script featured multiple scenes featuring an artist, bird watchers, children, photographers, and more. This was an episode where I got to create a diverse soundscape.
